Here we are a year later......
It has been a year since my son finished his treatment.
We have had scans every three months, all have come back completely clean, all and all
considering the numerous short term effects involved with his therapy, he has remained
above the bar, so to speak.
Zac proceeded into third grade, instead of repeating the second, since he mostly missed
that. He struggled as expected, but due to the amazing teachers he has had and the support
from his new school, he does done very well. He also attended summer school to catch up
on his math, which he completed with honors, Zac was tested for reading during third grade
on reading skills and tested at a 5th grade reading level. Although my son will make
progress, I am sure he will be challenged for a while to catch up to all he has missed....
We go back for scans in October.........
I will be updating my journal page in regards to the last year of our lives. Very Soon..........
I have to focus on the Alert one for now......
July 9th 2007
Zach had an ultrasound done today. They found a one inch blood clot in one of his veins. The
blood flow in the vein is fine for now. In 2 months Zach will have more scans and another
ultrasound. Hopefully the clot will dissolve on it's own. In the meantime they will be testing
him for genetic disorders. The results should be back by the end of this week. We ask for
your prayers.

At 4:30 Dr Healey, completed Zac's port removal........ He is done..... No longer am I concerned
about infections, now that his central line has been removed.... Fevers are a thing of the
past.... Now Dr. Healey has told me that he is pleased with Zacs liver growth and its
capabilities. Blood flow looks good and size as well..
It is 10:33 PM and my son is doing well.. He was a little cranky after port removal, no he was
very cranky. Not so much, as of this moment..
Zac will have an ultrasound on the 9th to check the site. The CAT scan showed some
concerns with the site. My concerns have been laid to rest, after discussing this with Dr.
Healey after removal.. Now there is nothing standing in the way of my son regaining his life
back.......
Thanks to this man, I have my son. What a truly gifted man he is....
Thanks to Children's Hospital for having some truly gifted doctors.
Please read my latest journal entry..........Thank You page as well....

Well all the scans are done. My sons heart is as in good as shape as it was before he
started chemotherapy...... The bone scans came back came back with no abnormalities.
The CAT scan... Well it showed an abnormality around his port... The team has observed it
and his surgeon will be as well.. The remainder of his scan provided no abnormalities in his
body. Great news.... Although you do not expect anything wrong at this point due to the fact
that chemotherapy just ended... Zac will have an ultrasound on the 5th of July to access the
issue with the port site. He will have his port removed on the 29th of this month........
I will be talking with Dr. Healey on that day to access the abnormality and to get the scoop on
the liver and its regeneration.....
He did it...... He beat it..... What a trooper..
I will update on the 29th, after port removal.....To give the scoop from his surgeon....

Zacamander.... Did it...... We went to the Children's this morning.. He had his labs drawn.. His
counts are on the rise, not to ever be lowered from chemotherapy EVER again... Today is the
beginning of the rest of his life.. This is the day I regain control of my son's health, and finally
get to relax, now his body will begin to heal, from all of this, now I will not have to guard
against his body being compromised all the time. It will take 3 months for him to regain his
immunity and today is the official beginning of the three months....... We have a heart scan on
Friday and CAT and Bone Marrow scans on the 20th of this month... The 29th is when Dr
Healey will remove his port.....I will update on the 21st.....

The past two months or so, have been very calm. It took over 2 months for Zac to re
cooperate, from his blood infection on Christmas Day. We have not had an unplanned stays.
We have just been in for chemotherapy which is every 3 weeks. It has been very needed to
have this stability in his treatment. During the first 8 months we had so many ups and downs
in regards to his health. In one week from now he will be in the hospital for his last 5 day
stay. On the 11 th of May he finished what was his last three day stay, which for the last 2
rounds were only 12 hour admits. The last week of June is when he will have the another
round of scans and port removal, which will be on the 29th of June. Almost one year to the
day. We will have to do repeat scans for every months till the end of the year then in six
months then yearly, from then on. I will be posting an update from the scans during that
week. Journal updated today as well...
